Our History

Project GLAD® was developed by Marcia Brechtel and Linnea Haley then field tested for nine years by the United States Department of Education. It is a professional development model in the area of academic language acquisition and literacy. Brechtel and Haley designed the strategies and model to specifically target and promote language skills, academic achievement, and cross-cultural skills with groundbreaking efficiency. At the conclusion of the Project GLAD® study in the 1990s, the U.S. Department of Education placed a mission of national dissemination upon us. As the only organization endorsed by both Marcia Brechtel and Linnea Haley, it then became our goal to help the nation ‘Be GLAD’. We have continued to research and field-test our practice over the past two decades with increasing success. Our organization has exclusively continued to earn the highest measures of student performance.

Our Team

Our world-renowned organization has been providing award-winning educational expertise to thousands of educators for over 25 years (not many models achieve this track record). We credit our longevity to innovation and flexibility. We train primarily across the United States in over 6 languages (English, Spanish, Urdu, French, Arabic, and Chinese), but are also in 11 other countries. Our collaborative, nurturing approach helps all schools achieve their goals. With a diverse team experienced in many areas, we help with acquisition for English Language Learners (ELLs) and dual language programs. We employ specialists in both Gifted (GATE) learning and Special Education (SPED). We also train in project/action plan-based and inquiry-based learning across all sciences, maths, and social studies. We are widely recognized as the premier provider of professional development for educators in the area of pedagogy. Our team of trainers, and the list of schools we work with, continue to achieve high acclaim and phenomenal results.
